Chocolate is getting more expensive – but why have cacao prices increased? Climate change is turning up the heat in West Africa — the region that grows around 70% of the world’s cacao — and it’s been tough on farmers and their crops. Hotter days, unusual weather and plant diseases have been hitting harvests hard, and that means cocoa supplies are down. Since cocoa (made from cacao tree beans) is the key ingredient in chocolate, prices have been shooting up to record highs.

We are working hard to ensure all the cacao / chocolate in store is organic / sustainably grown, fair trade, and where possible, Australian grown and processed. We’re also working hard to keep prices as affordable as we can, and always pass any price drops straight on to our community. Where prices rise too high we are temporarily removing higher priced lines from store and researching / stocking alternatives.
